About our Club
Potters Bar Bowls Club was first formed in 1929 and has steadily grown to be a very well established bowls club affiliated with Bowls England, the Hertfordshire County, St Albans and District and East Herts League associations. You can read a very extensive article about the history of the club at the PBBC History Page. Our club house has been well maintained – the picture shows a new roof being installed in the off-season of 2021.
Our Club has both a strong ladies and men’s sections; with total membership running at around 135 full playing members. Typically our outdoor playing season runs from the third week of April through till the end of the third week in September.
Our club is active throughout the year with friendly indoor bowls games organised in the Autumn, Winter and Spring months and with a regular flow of social activities (parties, quizzes, social gatherings, cribbage and bridge competitions etc.). We play around sixty-five friendly games each year. The club enters various National, County, District and League competitions and our members gain many opportunities for high quality, competitive games played through the summer months. We also run our own club competitions.
We are a very friendly club and all members are encouraged to be welcoming and supportive to new members. We have around nine qualified coaches and new members are always properly trained in playing the game as part of a carefully organised induction process.
