Macmillan Coffee Morning 26 August 2025
Well done Anita and Wendy Clarke for raising £570 for the above charity. Thank you everyone for donating and attending the coffee morning.
Lucy Thurlow Bikeathon 2025
Well done to Susie Thurlow’s daughter, Lucy who completed her sponsored Bikeathon in aid of our President’s charity, Asthma and Lung UK. We have raised, to date, £790 with still more sponsorship money to be collected! This will hopefully bring the total raised to over £900.
A huge you to everyone who supported Lucy – she really enjoyed the challenge and is so grateful for your generosity and support.
County Triples
We have 2 teams that have made it to the last 16 of the county triples. Pam, Di and Jean defeated a team from Batchwood and Alan, Ron and Keith defeated a team from WGC. Both teams play again next Tuesday for places in the quarter finals
Potters Bar has 4 teams still in the county pairs competition.
Di and Penney defeated a team from Hatfield.
2 wins over Batchwood and one of our own teams sees Richard, David, Steve, Ron, Tugi and Tony into the 3rd round to be played on Friday.
On Friday 30 May we were at North Mymms for the annual Nethercott cup, a 3 way event involving Potters Bar, North Mymms and Harperbury. Amazingly each club won 2 rinks but North Mymms were the overall winners when shots were counted, with Potters Bar runners up.
Over the weekend 2 teams consisting of 8 players (4 ladies and 4 men) competed in the national Tony Allcock over 60s.
Unfortunately in the match against Batchwood we lost but there was success against Potten End. Well done to Richard,David, Julie, Jenny, Dave, Keith, Penney and Sue.
Potters Bar have started their season with plenty of ‘friendly’ fixtures. There have been wins against Grovelands, Hertford, Datchworth, Selbourne, Cockfosters, and Rosedale.
In the national mixed pairs Di and Steve Jewell defeated a team from Metropolitan Bushey before losing to Harpenden. The district triples team of Dave Sparrow, Colin Malone and Paul Stevens had a one shot win over a team from Hemel Hempstead. In County competitions Penney Billington has progressed into the next round of the unbadged singles and with Gill Marshall, Jean Scott and Di Jewell defeated a team from Hertford in the opening round of the Senior 4’s . The team of Richard Pearce, Jan Southwell. Chris Budden and Dave Salmon defeated a team from Hatfield in the opening round of the men’s Senior 4s.
Opening Day Sat 19th April 2025
There was some nice sunshine in the afternoon of 19th April. The green was the fastest it has ever been. The Captain’s teams won with a score of 121 shots versus the President’s team score of 105 shots. A great start to the outdoor season.

Congratulations Graham on receiving an award for Outstanding Service to Bowls in Hertfordshire, see article below
